SPOKE |

To stand with the ends staggered; -- said of the
spokes of a wagon wheel where they join the hub. |

To check the motion of, as a carriage on a steep grade,
by putting a sprag between the spokes of the wheel. |

SPOKESHAVE |
A kind of drawing knife or planing tool for dressing
the spokes of wheels, the shells of blocks, and other curved work. |

WEB |
A disk or solid construction serving, instead of spokes, for
connecting the rim and hub, in some kinds of car wheels, sheaves, etc. |

STRADDLING |
Applied to spokes when they are arranged alternately in
