stalk, or an ovule which hangs from the upper part of the ovary. |

PEDICEL |
A stalk which supports one flower or fruit, whether
solitary or one of many ultimate divisions of a common peduncle. See

RECEPTACLE |
The apex of the flower stalk, from which the organs of
the flower grow, or into which they are inserted. See Illust. of

HAIR |
An outgrowth of the epidermis, consisting of one or of
several cells, whether pointed, hooked, knobbed, or stellated. Internal
hairs occur in the flower stalk of the yellow frog lily (Nuphar). |
